POPIA Notice
This page is maintained by Stratus Cloud Protect to explain how we handle personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It is a summary of our practices and is not a legal opinion or certification.
Responsible party
Stratus Cloud Protect, a Stratus Cloud company, is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this service. For privacy-related questions, please contact security@stratuscloud.co.za.
What personal information we collect
We collect personal information necessary to provide our cybersecurity service, including your name, contact details, business information, billing data, and security-assessment responses. We aim to collect only what we need and to keep it accurate.
Purpose of processing
We process personal information to deliver and manage your subscription, protect your devices and accounts, communicate with you, comply with legal obligations, and improve our service. We do not use your information for unrelated purposes without consent where required.
Your POPIA rights
Under POPIA you have the right to: be informed about the personal information we hold; request access to it; ask for corrections or updates; object to processing in certain circumstances; and request deletion where the law allows. To exercise any of these rights, email security@stratuscloud.co.za.
Security safeguards
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encryption in transit, and routine monitoring. We review our practices regularly and expect our subprocessors to maintain reasonable security standards as well.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it in a reasonable manner. You may request account deletion by contacting us.
Complaints
If you believe we have not handled your personal information correctly, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator.
Changes to this notice
We may update this POPIA Notice as our service or the law changes. The latest version will always be posted here.
